Face-A-Day Typestudy

Face-A-Day Typestudy

The Face-A-Day project was designed to be a creative warm-up exercise. Each day at the beginning of class, I spent 15 to 20 minutes drawing a face using type. I used one typeface for each face to explore the type forms. The characters were resized, stretched, or skewed, but never broken up. I restrained myself from using the same characters over and over (it’s easier to draw with O’s or L’s compared to a R, @, or %). The caricature of Hunter S. Thompson (bottom left) was created the day he died.
